'Get a load of me, get a load of you
Walking' down the street, and I hardly know you
It's just like we were meant to be'
"Okay what did you do with her Jeff?" Matt asked when he noticed his brother coming in the door alone, minus one skinny redhead.
"I didn't do anything with her. I took her to one of the spots I like to hang out when I am alone, and when I turned around she was gone. I guess she really didn't want to go home after all."
Matt threw his brother a look, like he knew the truth and didn't want to say anything, but at the same time wanted to call his bluff. Jeff just smiled and started heading up the stairs, not wanting to pay attention to the mind games Matt was so obviously trying to play with him.
"There's something you aren't telling me, and I will find out what that something is Jeff, you can't hide it forever." He shouted as Jeff got further and further up the stairs.
Grabbing the phone in his hand, he dialed the number that the old man at the front desk of the hotel had given him, and when it started ringing and then went into the answering service, he typed the number to Amy's room in and waited for the ringing to begin again.
"Amy its Jeff, I just wanted to make sure that you were alright with this."
"Yeah of course I am, but I told you that you didn't have to do this. I know you were right about my mother and her worrying about me, and I was ready to go home."
"I don't want you to go home anymore then you want too alright? I will come by sometime tomorrow when I can ditch Matt alright?"
"Anything you want Jeff, and thanks again for doing what you did. I know you didn't exactly agree with what I was doing."
"Well I get it now, and I am here for you alright? We just have to make sure no one really finds out about it."
"Well they won't hear it from me."
"Then we're safe for a little while. Goodnight Amy and sweet dreams."
"Sweet dreams Jeff."
'Holding hands with you, and we're out at night
Got a girlfriend, you say it isn't right
And I've got someone waiting too'
"Got you little brother." Matt whispered as he heard both Amy and Jeff hang up their extensions. He didn't know what the hell was going on with Jeff, but now that he knew that she was still in Cameron, he was damn sure going to find out.
'This is, this is just the beginning
We're already wet, and we're gonna go swimming'
The next morning, Amy woke to the sound of a knocking on her door. Glancing at the door lazily without getting up she moaned loudly. Who the hell would be here at this hour in the morning?
She stood up and looked at the alarm clock to her left and noticed that it wasn't morning anymore and that it was almost three in the afternoon. Rushing around the room and grabbing her clothes, she tried to remember what she had been doing last night that had made her stay up so late, and then that's when her thoughts drifted to Jeff and the night they had spent together just talking, before he had left to go home.
Putting a robe around her, she opened the door and who she saw standing there almost gave her a mild heart attack.
"How did you find me?" she asked, not even budging to let him into the room.
"It's funny what you hear when your little brother is on the phone at three am. You mind telling me how you ended up here, and why my brother is now lying for you?"
"That's none of your business, and if Jeff wanted to share all of that with you he would have. Now if you don't mind, you no longer have to worry about me, so why don't you get the hell out of the way so I can shut the door."
"He likes you don't he?" Matt asked turning his lips up into a smirk, which made Amy, want to break out and smack him right across it. He had no right to come here and badger her like this.
"Again like I said, it's none of your business."
"You're wrong. You're some runaway who thinks she can come into my house and make nice with my family and then that we wont care that you left a family of your own wherever you are from. Well too bad, you got caught and I am telling you now to leave my brother alone alright?"
Amy pushed Matt lightly to make him move out of the way of the door, but before she could fully close it, he pushed it open and made his way inside.
"I suppose he paid for all of this with his work money didn't he?"
"No actually I did, now like I said, I don't want you here, so please leave before I call the manager at the front desk and have you removed."
Matt smiled and then laughed, causing Amy to get more and more aggravated to the point where all she could do to stop herself was to sit down.
"I'm not leaving, and for now neither are you. I'm here for another reason, and I was wondering if you were interested in coming to the gym with me today and wrestling."
Amy had tuned him out until she heard that he wanted her to come to the ring with him and then she perked up. She knew that Matt was putting on this asshole front to protect himself from someone he didn't know, but the fact that he was reaching out to her and asking her to do this made her stop looking at him like a threat and more like a partner.
"I'd love too."
"Well then get what you need, and then meet me at the car in ten minutes." He said, opening the door and walking away, making his way back to where the truck was parked. She had to admit that she was seeing a lot of this truck in the last two nights since being in Cameron.
'Why can't I breathe whenever I think about you?
Why can't I speak whenever I talk about you?
It's inevitable, it's a fact that we're gonna get down to it
So tell me
Why can't I breathe whenever I think about you?
"No, you didn't fall right. Okay I want you to do it again!" Matt exploded when Amy had fallen the wrong way when taking a bump for the hundredth time in the past thirty minutes since they had been there.
"I'm trying! God is nothing done right when people get around you?"
"No, but hell you seemed like you were interested the other day and now you seem like you don't give a shit. If you want to be a wrestler you have to have the drive."
"I would like to drive you over a cliff right now, does that count?"
Matt laughed and picked Amy back up off the mat, and proceeded to come at her again, making sure this time she took the bump correctly. When she landed it right, he smiled at her.
"Yeah that's more then alright, because then that means that you did it right for the first time since we got there. Maybe we can use your hatred for me to make you a real star huh?"
"Very funny, although probably true."
They continued to take bumps and didn't hear the door to the gym open and Jeff walk through.
"Hey little bro, we got ourselves quite a star here!" Matt called getting up and finally catching sight of his brother.
"How the hell did he find out Amy?" Jeff asked, jumping into the ring and picking Amy off her feet so that he could look her right in the eye.
'Isn't this the best part of breaking' up
Finding someone else you can't get enough of
Someone who wants to be with you too'
"He showed up at my hotel room this afternoon actually, so before you think I called him and told him anything you better make sure the next time you call me, he's not on the line." Amy said, not missing a beat and not willing to take any shit from Jeff now. Just because he did this for her, and they had kissed didn't mean he had a right to lose it on her.
"Matt you're a fucking asshole you know that?" Jeff said under his breath but loud enough for him to hear it.
"Well I knew you were hiding something and as it were, it seems you were hiding a girl. Now I know she was having fun in the ring yesterday, so I went to find her to invite her along. Don't get your panties in a knot little brother."
Jeff rolled his eyes, and looked back to Amy. "So what has he shown you so far?"
"He's been telling me how to do a bump and apparently after thirty minutes of it, I finally got it in Matt Hardy language." Amy said with a laugh trying to break the tension that was so obviously there with Jeff and her right now.
"Well how about I show you how to take a clothesline?"
"Isn't that a bump?" Amy asked, realizing that when you were on the receiving end of the clothesline, it meant you went down on your ass."
"Yeah it is when you are the one getting it, but I want you to give one to me."
Amy smiled, catching Jeff's drift and decided to go with it. Maybe he could teach her and not flip out like his brother had been doing for the past hour.
'It's an itch we know we are gonna scratch
Gonna take a while for this egg to hatch
But wouldn't it be beautiful
here we are we're at the beginning
We haven't fucked yet, but our heads spinning'
As Matt drove in silence towards the hotel, Jeff and Amy kept going over moves and talking about what they wanted to work on the next time they got into the ring together. All he could think about was that he had invited Amy out to teach her some things about the ring, and somehow Jeff had taken over and he didn't even stand a chance.
"Hey Matt, you think we should show Amy that one move we do?" Jeff asked, turning toward Matt, and bringing his brother out of his train of thought.
"Which one is that? We do have like six that we do."
"That one, where I jump off your back into the other guy."
"Well if she wants to see it sure, but I don't think I want her doing it." Matt said, not wanting to admit that she might be good at it, and that it would be another thing that the two of them would take from him.
'I'd love for you to make me wonder
Where it's going
I'd love for you to pull me under
For this that we can control
Baby I am dying'
Jeff and Amy went back to the conversation and Matt was left with his thoughts until he pulled up in front of the hotel. After letting the two of them off, and waiting while Jeff walked her to her room, he watched through the window as he saw Jeff lean in and kiss her. Turning away he realized how much at that moment he hated his little brother, and would do anything to have the roles reversed.
"I guess I am just going to have to make the girl fall for me." He murmured to himself as Jeff stepped into the car.
"What girl?" Jeff asked with a huge grin.
"Just some girl I met at the gym a couple days ago that's all. So what are you going to tell dad when we get home wonder boy?"
"The same thing I told him before I left to find you. That she took off and good riddance."
Matt rolled his eyes and pulled the gear in the truck, backing out of the driveway and unto the street in the direction of home.
"Yeah good riddance."
'Why can't I breathe whenever I think about you?
Why can't I speak whenever I talk about you'
